GUERNSEY – Funeral services for Charlotte Louise Schmidt, 78, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the First Christin Church in Wheatland, with Pastor Casey Schroeder officiating. Interment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 12:30 p.m to 2 p.m.
Charlotte Schmidt died Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
She was born on Monday, December 4, 1944 in Hanna, Wyoming the daughter of Jace Webster and Alberta Rua (Metcalf) Ralph. She was an infant when her parents moved to Guernsey, where she was reared and educated.
As a teenage ahe worked as a waitress at the Guernsey Grill. She was married to William Herman “Bud” Schmidt on March 25, 1962 in Wheatland. They moved to Hanna in 1973, and she worked at the Miner Café and as a custodian for the school district. In 1985 they moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming and she worked at the 18-Wheeler restaurant and in 1993 they moved to Douglas. Char worked at the Broken Wheel restaurant until her retirement in 2010. She enjoyed being with her family, jig-saw-puzzles, cooking, sewing, and knitting.
Char is survived by her husband, Bud Schmidt, of Douglas; children, Rhonda LaVon Schmidt of Glendo, Wyoming and William Wade (Natasha) Schmidt of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Phala May (Doug) Powers of Hanna; grandchildren, Angela Louise Schmidt, Josh Foster, Michaela Clausen, April Schmidt, Derek Eckenrod, Tia Baucum, and Brandi Schmidt; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marcelene DuVall, Annie Willadson, and Juanita Prado; brother, Dewey Pipher; grandson, Zachary Clausen; and great granddaughter, Brookelynn Baucum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
