GUERNSEY – Alongside band director Nathan Beutler, the Guernsey-Sunrise high school jazz ensemble entertained an audience at a “Coffeehouse Performance” on Saturday at the school. Juliana Schiele played the flute, ukulele, keyboard, guitar, and a djembe drum and had a couple singing solos. Karley Lehman played the flute and drums, Brooke Sterner played the flute and guitar, and Nathan VanNatter played the base guitar.
The group had a smooth coffeehouse jazz rhythm with a catchy beat that showed true talent.
The students chose their favorite pieces to play and learned how to make multiple iterations of their favorite tunes to perfect their skills, Beutler told the audience. “I’m proud of what they can do.”
