GUERNSEY – A funeral liturgy for Roger Eugene “Corky” Neifert Sr., 83, was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Guernsey with Father Andrew Duncan as the Celebrant. A Vigil for the Deceased was held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Roger Neifert passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
Roger was born on Monday, May 23, 1938, in Mitchell, Nebraska, the son of Fred and Vesta (Hansen) Neifert. He was reared and educated in Torrington and worked at farms in Torrington and Morrill, Nebraska. Roger moved to Wheatland 60 years ago and worked for CFI Sunrise Mine. He then went on to work road construction and as a Floorman for the hospital in Wheatland until he retired after 11 years.
Roger met Dolores Teresa Gonzales in Wheatland in 1957 and the two were married in 1958. From this union, were born three sons.
His hobbies included playing pool, leather and woodwork, but he was really a man of all trades.
Roger is preceded in death by his father, Fred Neifert on April 16, 2003, mother, Vesta (Hansen) Neifert on November 9, 2003; and son, Roger Neifert Jr.
Roger is survived by his wife, Dolores Neifert of Guernsey; sons Ron Neifert of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Tony Neifert of Guernsey; daughter-in-law, Lisa Niefert of Cheyenne; tow sisters; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Chelsea (John) Diggs and Kyle Neifert; and great grandson, Connor Diggs.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland are in charge of the arrangements.
