LINGLE—The Guernsey-Sunrise Viking boys got their first win of the year during the Lingle tournament last weekend. The Vikes snagged the victory over the Midwest Oilers after mounting a substantial fourth-quarter comeback. Down by 10 points entering the final quarter, the Vikes outscored the Oilers to get a 47-42 win. Complete stats for this game were not available at press time, but the Vikings were led by sophomore Brock Hohnholt’s 19-point performance. Sophomore Justin Malcom pitched in 13 points and junior Delgado added 10 points
The Vikes opened the tournament against St. Stephens on Friday afternoon and despite two players hitting double-doubles, St. Stephens prevailed 69-41. After playing a tight first quarter, St. Stephens went up by 12 to open the second half, 31-19. St. Stephens continued to drop in the points and went on to get the win.
Delgado finished with 18 points, 17 rebounds and a pair of steals. Hohnholt added 17 points and had 10 rebounds and five steals.
Senior Austin Albrecht put in three points and had five rebounds. Malcom pitched in two points and had two rebounds and three steals.
Freshman Rawland isabell hit a free-throw and had one rebound.
