New Platte County website coming soon

PLATTE COUNTY – Platte County officials say they expect a new website to come online in the next couple of weeks.

Commissioners received a somewhat technical briefing about the website during their Jan. 21 meeting from a representative of the county’s information technology contractor, WyoLogic, Inc.

According to County Clerk Malcolm Ervin, the new website will include more informational and user-friendly features.

“The biggest change is that we will be able to change the content ourselves,” Ervin said. “It allows us to provide more information to the public. My goal is to be as transparent as possible, and this website offers the tools to do that.”

Ervin said the new website will contain a lot of the same information as the current website, such as budget items, agendas and meeting minutes, but the public should have an easier time accessing that information.

“There’s no middle man anymore,” he said. “It’s a conduit to reach the public directly.”

The site will also contain an event calendar with information on the county’s special districts and boards, he said.

In other action during the Jan. 21 meeting, commissioners approved a simple subdivision request made by James Hedstrom to divide 10.5 acres of land near Hightower Road and state highway 34, an encroachment license request made by Scott Paulsen at the Rabbit Bush Ranch subdivision west of Guernsey and three out-of-state travel requests from county employees for training.

Commissioners also voted to reappoint Carolyn Foster to the Hospital Foundation Board for a five-year term.
