WHEATLAND – There are some who have a passion for farming, but don’t have the time to commit to the time and lifestyle. There is help to bring your passion to the forefront and create a hobby that will satisfy that need to green up that thumb.
Central Wyoming College is attempting to find those who want to build or enhance their small-scale farms with a course entitled Integrated Resource Management. The course will run from Aug. 24 – Dec. 7.
Leroy Jons, horticulturist for the University of Wyoming extension in Wheatland said, “ I am impressed with what CWC is doing to support ag diversity and to encourage folks to get into agriculture. CWC is a great asset to the coalition and this program will be a help to anyone wanting to learn about starting a business.”
The course will earn the participants three college credits and the cost of the tuition is $468 for in-state tuition.
According to the information sent out by CWC, “In this course students will develop a business plan for a new or prospective agricultural enterprise. Each week we will cover a different topic such as creating a mission and vision for their business, developing a budget and marketing plan, and making decisions about how to structure their business and what you want to produce. Students will then weave those elements together into a cohesive business plan as a final product for this course.”
Instructors for the course will be: Kyle Trumble MBA, team member for the Wind River start up challenge, Ethan Page, farm manager/instructor at Wind River Farm incubator and Keith Durren, Instructor of Agriculture at Central Wyoming College.
