Local youths successfully play softball on teams in the region

WHEATLAND – Numerous local athletes have been competing all over the region and country for softball. Here are a few highlights of the recent state tournaments. If there are any additions, please feel free to let us know for next week’s issue.
Camryn Mickelsen, Rylee Coates, and McKenzie Lockman competed for Cheyenne Extreme 18U. Their team finished second at the Mt. States Championship in Arvada, Colorado, and finished with a 35-7-1 record.
Delaney Aurich played for Laramie Lightning 18U this season. At state her team went 3-3 and finished with an 18-15 record placing fourth overall in Wyoming.

Wyoming state champions Landri Vaughn and Maggie Hicks competed for WYCO 16U. They finished with a 30-11-1 record.
On a separate WYCO 16U team, Carly Robertson, Halle Mickelsen, and Ayden Coates also went to state. They finished third at the Wyoming State Tournament in Gillette. Their team posted a 9-17 record.
State Champions in the 14U league are Mya Connel, Peyton Teton, Sophie Meyer, and Kamlee Collar. They played for the Laramie 14U squad.
Whitley Vaughn played for WYCO 14U in the competitive league. Her team played in the state championship, but just fell short with a second-place finish and a final record of 24-21-1.
12U Wyoming State Champions included Kenley Struble and Leeann Tittle.
Playing for the 12U Torrington Thunder team, Tori Fowler, Willow Villamor, and Payson Goff finished 4th at the State Tournament.
