GILLETTE – The Lobos had yet another busy competitive week starting off with a double header in Gillette against the Rustlers on Wednesday, June 26th. Our fellas dropped both games losing 10-4 and 19-9. In the first tilt Cooper Meyer shared pitching duties with Jacob McDaniel and Mason Collar. Nolan Schaffner scored the lone run in the top of the first. Cooper Meyer had a base hit and stole second and third base during a Kenny Raser at bat. With runners on first and third, Nolan Schaffner hit a triple to help Meyer and Raser post runs in the second inning. The fourth inning proved to be a defensive challenge for the Lobos, dropping seven runs. The game ended with a 10-4 loss.
Nolan Schaffner was able to reach third on a wild pitch in the first inning of game two. Bases were loaded with Schaffner on third, Lee Raser on second, and Ayden Lind on first. Lorenzo Rojo and Cooper Meyer walked, which allowed Schaffner and Raser to cross home plate. Grady Bohlander stole third in the second inning and scored off a base hit by Schaffner, after which Schaffner stole second and scored off a base hit by Lind. Early inning scoring wasn’t enough to overcome the arsenal of the Rustlers as the Lobos fell 19-9 in game two. Brayden Nilsson and Beckett Graves shared duties on the mound.

The next day our Lobos traveled to Sheridan to face the Jets. Losing 9-7 and 13-1. Game one was close as the Lobos came back from a five run deficit in the fifth inning to almost close the gap. Lee Raser took the hill for the first five innings and Ayden Lind took over pitching duties in the sixth. The Lobos outhit the Jets, 7-6. Nilsson scored in the seventh inning off a walk, and Lorenzo Rojo scored on a wild pitch to bring the game to the final score of 9-7.
Finishing off the six-game week was a home stand against the Cats from Douglas on Saturday, falling 8-2 and 13-3. Cooper Meyer and Jacob McDaniel took the mound in game one. The Lobos scored their two runs in the fifth inning. Grady Bohlander stole second on a wild pitch and then scored off a Cats error to get the Lobos on the board. Meyer stole third on a wild pitch, then scored the second run off a base hit by Nolan Schaffner.
