Hub City Motorcycle Club ends summer with Labor Day Poker Run

Posted

GUERNSEY – The roar of motorcycle engines roared through two counties as the Hub City Motorcyle Club concluded their 40th annual End of Summer Run Sept. 2-4 in brutal 103-degree heat.

After camping all weekend on the Hub City grounds, the annual Poker Run came about Sunday, bright and early.

The fun and games began Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. The cost was $15 per hand and a $20 meal ticket or $30 for both.

Signup for the run began Sunday the fourth from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Ben’s Bar in Guernsey. The first stop of the run took the bikers to The Fort Laramie Saloon and then on to the Commodore Bar in Wheatland. From there they continued to the Water Hole in Douglas and then to Angler’s Bar in Glendo. The last and final stop was back in Guernsey at Crazy Tony’s Bar.

Most bikers who had their full leathers on for the run were drenched from the heat and there was a lot of water that was purchased for the weekend.

One bike mishap happened about 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning as there was a biker who lost control on Highway 320. Although the bike was pretty messed up, the biker recovered.

A huge feast was held at the Hub City Grounds at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4. For more information about next year’s run, you can call Freak at: (307) 640-5690 or Smitty at (308)631-8108.
