WHEATLAND –  There’s good news for individuals who worked as a laborer in any ag-related field from January 20, 2020 through May 11, 2023. A $600 gift card is being offered to offer relief to people who worked in agriculture during the pandemic.

 The program is called the Farm and Food Workers Relief Grant Program and is being offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Community Action Health Center out of Western Nebraska is reaching out to their local community and into Wyoming to assist individuals in applying for this grant. 

Representatives will be at the Platte County Public library at 904 9th street in Wheatland on February 10th from 10:30 – 3:15 p.m. The application process takes approximately five to ten minutes and the only documentation needed is identification and a pay stub or W2 proving you worked for an agriculture business at least 1 hour as some sort of laborer during the applicable time frame in an agriculture service position during the pandemic.

During enrollment, a small record of information is collected from the employee for grant purposes, then the individual will receive a text message letting them know they qualified for the grant funds, which are then deposited on the VISA debit card within a few days. There are no income guidelines, and the money received through this grant cannot be taxed as income.
