If you feel stressed about all the craziness around this year’s election, do not feel alone. I think if we all told the truth, and regardless of who you are considering voting for, I think we’re just ready for this to be over.
I’d sure like to see some election legislation that would put some parameters on how early candidates can declare and start campaigning. I’d also like to see some laws enacted that limit where and how much money can come from source for campaigns. This has gotten way out of hand as far as I’m concerned. I feel like a lot of what’s really important gets lost in all the drama and commercialization. Can you imagine what George Washington and his pals would think of how we elect our leaders these days? I don’t think they’d be too impressed.
So many people are concerned about where we’re headed and rightfully so. But all any of us can do is vote and that is critically important this year. I know you feel like you’ve heard that before, but I think this time around, it’s actually the case.
And with the stakes so high, the rhetoric and the mudslinging is only going get worse—if that’s possible.
My sister sent me something the other day that is probably the best thing I’ve read about what each of us can do to deal with the kind of stress and pressure all this can put on everyone.

Even though our founding fathers may not have been able to predict this, we can actually get some pretty good advice from some folks that were even older—ancient, in fact.
If you don’t pick up another newspaper, book, magazine or anything else to read in the very near future, take the time to check out an article that is on the CNN website.
It has nothing to do with who anyone is voting for. Regardless of who your news source is, this article transcends any of them with information that’s about as clear and fair as it can possibly be. I was amazed at what I learned and I assure you it will be worth your time and effort.
The headline is: “He wore a toga and spoke Latin. This ancient philosopher can help you survive the anxiety of the 2024 election.”
Here are some of the paragraph headers:
Don’t let the future destroy the present.
Don’t be too cynical to get involved.
Be kind, even to your political enemies.
