WHEATLAND - On March 31, 2023 The Wheatland Theater hosted a fundraising event to assist local Special Olympians. With a ticketed showing of the film Champions starring Woody Harrelson, Kaitlyn Olson and Matt Cook, the proceeds from sales and concessions raised $300.00 with the First State Bank matching the donation, making a grand total of $600.00 going towards sponsoring athletes in the Special Olympics program.
The goal of the global program for Special Olympics is to empower athletes ages 2-99 to shatter stereotypes and exceed their personal bests on the playing field and in life. But for every Special Olympics champion, there is another who is waiting for a chance to win.
That’s where you come in. If you would like to sponsor an athlete or an event to benefit the Special Olympics programs in your area, go to their website’s donation page where you can learn more.
