3 Gringos Mexican Restaurant open for business

GUERNSEY—With new owners and a remodeled interior, Three Gringos Mexican Restaurant officially opened for business last Saturday. With a separate exterior entrance, the restaurant is attached to Kelly’s Bar in downtown Guernsey (26 N. Wyoming Ave.) and also accessible through Kelly’s.
Shawna Reichert, Platte County Chamber of Commerce director and Kellie Augustyn, Guernsey City Councilman, were both on hand to show support for Guernsey’s newest eatery.
Though the menu is new, area residents may be familiar with the locale as several other restaurants have served the community from this same location over the past 30 years. The most recent was Burrito Brothers which closed about eight years ago.
The new owners are Jimmy and Tommi Miller and Nate and Stacey Cook. The Millers have previous restaurant experience as they owned and operated the “307 Bar and Grill” at the Torrington Travel Center on the east side of Torrington on U. S. Highway 26. They were forced to close that business when the owner of the building opted to go a different direction.

Since then, Tommi Miller says they have been looking for an opportunity to get back into the food business and the offer in Guernsey by building owner Renee Boomhower turned out to be the right place at the right time.
The new menu is primarily Mexican fare, featuring a variety of tacos (hard and soft shell), tostadas, burritos, enchiladas, sides including beans and rice, salsa and chips, french fries, queso, guacamole, green chili, enchilada sauce, and soft drinks. They also offer chicken tenders and a hamburger option if Mexican isn’t your choice. They will offer a daily special.
Despite the age of the building, the new owners have done an outstanding job of refurbishing and decorating the interior of the dining area, giving it a definite atmosphere of Mexico.
Business hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Orders can be placed to go or you may dine in. Their phone number is 307-401-4155.
The restaurant will be closed on Saturday, July 13 for the Madison Beach Raft build-off and float. The owners are relatives of the late Madison Cook, who was a victim of domestic violence several years ago. The family established Madison Beach and added the float and raft build-off to honor Madison’s memory and raise funds for domestic violence awareness. They are asking that customers join them in build-off and float that day. Additional information about the event may be found on the Madison Beach Facebook page.
The business also has a Facebook page at “3 Gringos” where updates will be posted and a full menu is shown.
