GUERNSEY – Grave side funeral services for Virginia Mary Russ, 94, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at the Prairie Rest Cemetery in Guernsey, with Father Ray Moss officiating. Virginia was born April 11, 1926, and passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at the Goshen Healthcare Community after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was the youngest of nine children and was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and four sisters.

Virginia was born in Sunrise and graduated Valedictorian from Sunrise High School in 1944. Upon graduating, she took a job with the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company before attending the University of Wyoming.
She graduated from UW in 1948 with a degree in Elementary Education and taught first grade for two years in Douglas before accepting a position with Stickney Auto Parts in Torrington in 1951. She was promoted to manager of Stickney’s in 1970, a position she held until 1986, when Stickney’s closed its doors.
After retiring in 1989 from Family Dentistry, she accepted the position of manager of Cottier Apartments.
During her life, Virginia was a devoted Catholic and a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church and a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 2918 since 1946. She was a happy, loving and caring individual. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Rest in God’s hands Aunt Virg.
