TORRINGTON – The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings finished sixth overall while the Lady Vikings took seventh at the Wyoming High School Athletics Association’s (WHSAA) 1A-2A-3A East Regional Track Meet held Friday and Saturday, May 14-15, at Wiseman Field in Torrington.
“We had a great regional meet with a ton of personal records,” Viking coach Doug Horton said. “Twelve qualified for the state meet in Casper. We are a very young team that performed well.”
Kaleb Foggie placed fourth in the finals of the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.09 seconds. Though a solid performance from Foggie, he was unable to beat out his preliminary time of 11.96 seconds.
Foggie also placed fifth in the finals of the 200-meter with a time of 24.68 seconds, beating out his preliminary run of 24.83 seconds.
Brock Honholt, Tristan Honholt, Justin Malcom and Foggie placed third in the 4x100 relay with a time of 47.80 seconds. The Lady Viking 4x400 team of Lily Ahrens, Taylor Marshall, Juliana Schiele and Rylie Thompson took fifth with a time of 4 minutes, 58.82 seconds.
Brody Harriman, Cooper Harriman, Aiden Noggle and Domonic Ramirez finished fifth in the 4x800 relay with 10:23.05.
Justin Malcom took first place in the high jump with a 5-foot, 11-inch jump. Brock Honholt finished fifth with 5-5. Malcolm also took second in the pole vault with a distance of 9-3.
Lady Viking Juliana Schiele took third in the pole vault with a 7-6 finish, establishing a new personal record for the athlete.
Brock Honholt finished fourth in the long jump and triple jump with an 18-3 long jump and a 38-1 triple jump. Justin Malcom took second in the triple jump with a 39-8.25.
Justin Malcom, Brock Honholt and Juliana Schiele were named as all-conference athletes at the event.
