DOUGLAS—The Guernsey-Sunrise Viking basketball teams both suffered losses in the first round of regional games in Douglas Thursday.
The Lady Vikings took on Arvada-Clearmont, the top seed from the Northeast Conference. The Lady Panthers sent Guernsey-Sunrise to the consolation bracket with a 43-22 win over the Lady Vikes. They will face Kaycee (NE-#3) Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. The Lady Buckaroos lost to Hanna-Elk Mountain in their first round game 50-47.
The Viking boys had a very tough assignment in their first round opponent, the Northeast’s top-seeded Upton Bobcats. The Cats downed the Vikings 74-35, sending them to a loser-out contest Friday with Hulett at 9 a.m. The Vikings played Hulett during the regular season with similar results on January 12, falling 80-53.
