Tamara Stenson speaks at Chamber's newest networking event

Tamara Stenson of Workforce Services spoke at the Platte County Chamber of Commerce “Lunch and Learn” series that will be going forth as a regular chamber lunch event in the next year.

WHEATLAND – The Platte County Chamber of Commerce has come forth with a new networking idea that will cater specifically to those members who cannot do after work meetings due to family and personal commitments.

“It is a lunchtime networking event for our members,” Shawna Reichert, Platte County Chamber of Commerce executive director said. “So many have not been able to attend after work things due to kids sports schedules, not being able to find child care and other personal things. So we decided to start coming up with some new ideas that would be involving more members.”

The Lunch and Learn series is a time for chamber members to do lunch and to get a teaching in an area of interest or that may help them in their own businesses.

The Lunch and Learn was the inaugural event of this sort and was held Nov. 16 at noon at Vimbos Restaurant and Lounge in Wheatland. The cost of lunch and the program was set at $12 for members and $15 for non-members. Before the special speaker got up, there were networking and fellowshipping opportunities for current members as they ate pizza and salad prepared by Vimbos.

The keynote speaker for the day was Tamara Stenson who is an employment specialist with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services.

Stenson gave a background of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services and then broke things down to explain what Workforce Services does and how they may be able to help if there are employment needs or employer questions for some of their employees including the areas of workman’s compr, regulations and opportunities.

The Lunch and Learn sessions last for approximately an hour and as Reichert said, it provides good food, good conversation and good information.
