Reinhardt makes VFW National Top Ten!

Posted

KANSAS CITY--The VFW National Headquarters in Kansas City, MO, named Nathan Reinhardt, a business and physical education teacher at Guernsey-Sunrise High School in Wyoming, as one of its top 10 Teachers of the Year.
Reinhardt was sponsored by the Lake Guernsey VFW Post 4471 in Guernsey, Wyoming. He is the recipient of the VFW Smart/Maher Citizenship Education Teacher Award at the Post, District and Department levels.
In addition, Reinhardt is the sponsor of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and coaches both basketball and track.

The Teacher of the Year contest recognizes exceptional teachers for their commitment to teaching Americanism and patriotism to their students. Elementary, junior high and high school teachers whose curriculum focuses on citizenship — for at least half of the school day in a classroom environment — can be nominated for this annual award.
The award comes with a $1,400 scholarship to attend a weeklong summer professional development program sponsored by Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge (PA). Reinhardt will attend the Innovative Entrepreneurs, Dynamic Economy session in July. Reinhardt is the second local teacher in three years to win a scholarship for Freedoms Foundation’s summer institute; the first was Troy Reichert in 2017.
Freedoms Foundation has been providing graduate-accredited teacher summer courses for more than 50 years. More than 13,000 teachers have participated in these programs, which feature nationally recognized scholars who provide engaging, interactive lectures.
Freedoms Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that educates about American rights and responsibilities, honors acts of civic virtue and challenges all to serve their community and country. In addition to teacher courses, Freedoms Foundation offers programs on America and its democratic system of government to about 1,500 students from across the country each year. Since its educational mission began, the Foundation has impacted more than 5 million students with its citizenship programs.
