Pony Express to carry U.S. Valentine mail to Hartville

HARTVILLE--Members of the Southeast Wyoming Pony Express Association will hold their annual Valentine Card Ride on Saturday, February 2, 2019.
Riders will leave the Guernsey Post Office at 9 a.m. and plan to arrive in Hartville between 11 a.m. and noon.
The Valentine Card Ride is held each year to give the public an opportunity to send their Valentine mail with a very special Western flavor with a special twist.

Any cards or letters (no packages) may be deposited in specially marked boxes located at area post offices in the communities of Fort Laramie, Glendo, Guernsey, Hartville, Lingle, Torrington and Wheatland.
All items must be fully addressed and have proper postage attached. Those items will be collecte by members of the SEWY Pony Express and stamped with a special mark verifying that those items have been carried by horseback between Guernsey and Hartville on the Valentine Card Ride.
The mail is carried from Guernsey to Hartville where it is turned over to the U.S, Postal Service at Hartville.
The items will then be cancelled with the Hartville Valentine cancellation for this year and mailed on to the addressees.
If you wish to have your mail carried by the Pony Express, it must be deposited in the special boxes no later than 11 a.m. on February 1st.
If you wish to take photos of the riders, they will depart from the Guernsey Post Office at 9 a.m. on February 2nd.
