WHEATLAND - According to Matt Roberts of the National Weather Service out of Cheyenne, the slow moving low that is causing wraparound moisture from Colorado has put most of Platte County into a winter weather advisory until 5 p.m. this afternoon (Wednesday). According to totals reported, Roberts said that from Bordeaux to Wheatland the snow totals have been anywhere between 5 and 7 inches of wet heavy snow. Currently at 7 a.m. the snow is still falling and will begin to taper off sometime around 4 or 5 p.m.
Snow totals could reach 10 inches in parts of Platte County with temperatures only peaking at the freezing level. Since Wheatland is on the outer edge of the snow band, totals northbound could be less.
According to WDOT, no unnecessary travel is advised due to the icy and blowing snow across many of the roads in SE Wyoming. The temperature is sitting at 27 degrees, but with the wind chills, the temperatures feel as if it is in the teens. Wind gusts are expected to continue throughout the day with higher gusts around 11 a.m.
