CASPER—The Guernsey-Sunrise Viking track teams sent 15 competitors to the state track meet and 13 came home with at least one medal each. Awards and points are given through eight places in each event.
Bailey Martin brought home the state championship in Class 1-A Girls Shot Put, marking 36-04.5. She was also named to the All-State team.
Also competing in the Shot Put, Trinity Ayers took eighth place, hitting 32-08 and Macy Mote finished 12th with a toss of 29-06.
Martin also picked up points in the Discus as she finished fifth with a throw of 97-08. Macy Mote finished right behind in sixth place, marking 96-07. Trinity Ayers finished in the 15th spot with a mark of 72-07. Katrina Christensen also competed but did not mark.
In the Triple Jump, Jordan Sasso marked 30-03.25, finishing in 11th place. Destiny Covington competed but did not get a mark.
In the girls’ running events, Whitney Martin finished fifth in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.82. She finished fourth in the 200 Meter Dash, clocking 28.42.
The Viking girls picked up their other team points in the 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 1:02.15, good enough for seventh place, and took eighth place in the 1600 Sprint Medley Relay with a time of 5:05.61. Running in the 4x100 were Sierra Ballou, Destiny Covington, Whitney Martin and Jordan Sasso. The SMR team consisted of Trinity Ayers, Whitney Martin, McKenzie Romero and Jordan Sasso.
