The 2018 high school track season in Wyoming is underway as of last weekend. The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings sent a few competitors to the annual Chadron Invitational Indoor Meet held each March.

CHADRON—The 2018 high school track season in Wyoming is underway as of last weekend. The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings sent a few competitors to the annual Chadron Invitational Indoor Meet held each March.
Viking junior Bailey Martin took the gold medal with a first place finish in the Shot Put with a mark of 33’. Teammate Macy Mote also competed in the Shot Put, marking 24’1.5” but did not place.
The Vikes’ next highest finish came for two of the boys’ competitors. Viking junior Austin Albrecht finished sixth in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 58.38. Viking senior Dale Mote also brought home a sixth place, his coming in the Triple Jump with a mark of 34’2”. Albrecht also picked up points in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 25.9.
The Vikings’ remaining points came with Whitney Martin’s eighth place finish in the 200 Meter Dash where she clocked a 29.8.
Other performers that competed but did not place included:
Austin Albrecht – 55 Meter Dash: 7.5
Dale Mote -- Shot Put: 38’2”
Macy Mote -- Shot Put: 24’1.5”
Whitney Martin – Long Jump: 12’3”; Triple Jump: 25’8”
Katrina Christensen – 55 Meter Dash: 11.22
The meet scheduled for this Friday at Newcastle has been postponed due to the weather forecast for the area. A reschedule date and time has not been set at this time.
On Saturday, the Vikes will attend the Morrill Early Bird Invitational. Field events begin at 9 a.m.
