Martin takes first in 200, second in 100 Meter Dashes

LUSK—The Vikings sent seven girls and five boys to compete at the Dennis Zowada Invitational track meet last Saturday in Lusk.

The highest individual finish for the boys belongs to Tate Stoneking’s second place mark of 38-0  in the Triple Jump. 

Roy Mote finished fourth in the Triple Jump, hitting 37-5.25.  First place went to Andrei Pushkanov from Gordon-Rushville who marked 38-7.75. 

Mote also took fourth in the Shot Put, throwing 43-5.5.  First place in that event went to Niobrara County’s Jake Heil with a distance of 47-03.5. 

Austin Albrecht took fourth in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 25.64.  First place went to Korby Campbell of Gordon-Rushville who clocked 23.85.  Albrecht also claimed seventh place in the 100 Meter Dash, running a 12.46.  Landon Fuller of Lingle-Fort Laramie won the event, clocking a 12.08. 

Justin Malcom finished fifth in the High Jump, clearing 5-0.  Teagan Tschacher of Niobrara County won the event clearing 5-8.

Brandon Miller took eighth place in the 3200 Meter Run, clocking 14:00.79.  First place went to Upton’s D. J. Till who ran 11:14.96.    

Others competing but not placing include:

Austin Albrecht – 400 Meter Dash (57.28)

Roy Mote – 400 Meter Dash (1:00.28)

Brandon Miller – 800 Meter Run (2:56.54)

Tate Stoneking – Long Jump (17-7)

Justin Malcom – Discus (87-4)

In the girls’ events, Whitney Martin had the highest individual finishes as she took first in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 29.36.  She placed second in the 100 Meter Dash, clocking 13.96. First place went to Malli O’Neal of Burns with an identical time of 13.96. 

The Lady Vikings’ Sprint Medley team of Shayee Niles, Macy Mote, Kassidy Morales and Trinity Ayers placed fifth with a time of 6:28.14. 

Others who competed in events but did not place included:

Katrina Christensen – 100 Meter Dash (19.47); Discus (71-0)

Whitney Martin – Long Jump (12-6.25); Triple Jump (27-7)

Kassidy Morales – Long Jump (10-8.5)

Shaylee Niles – Long jump (20-8.5)

Macy Mote –Shot Put (29-2.5) Discus (71-3)

Trinity Ayers – Shot Put (28-9); Discus (77-6)

Bailey Martin – Discus (75-9)

Teams competing in the meet included Burns, Chugwater, Glendo, Glenrock, Gordon-Rushville, Hay Springs, Lingle-Fort Laramie, Niobrara County, Pine Bluffs, Southeast and Upton. 

Team points were awarded as follows:

Boys:  Gordon-Rushville (122.5), Niobrara County (113.5), Burns (85), Southeast (72), Upton (60), Pine Bluffs (70), Guernsey-Sunrise (30), Lingle-Fort Laramie (30), Glendo (9), Hay Springs (5.5). 

Girls: Pine Bluffs (127), Burns (118.5), Niobrara County (106), Glenrock (70), Gordon Rushville (68), Lingle-Fort Laramie (58), Southeast (54), Hay Springs (33), Guernsey-Sunrise (27), Upton (9.5), Chugwater (3).    

This week, the Vikings will head to Torrington for the Wiseman Invitational meet.  Events begin at 2:15 p.m.
