CASPER--Despite some very unseasonable and downright miserable weather, Guernsey’s Bailey Martin managed to press on through to claim second place in the Class 1-A Shot Put at the state track meet held in Casper this past weekend.
Martin had the highest individual finish for the Viking teams in the state competition as she marked 33-04 in weather that was more suited for winter sports than spring track. Hailey Barkhurst of Encampment placed first with a mark of 35-09.75.
Lady Viking speedster Elana Heer placed in three of her four events. She took third in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 27.92. First went to Sydney Holiday of Ten Sleep with a time of 25.98. Heer claimed fourth in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.56. Holiday also took first in this event with a time of 12.50. Heer finished fifth in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:05.20. First went to Kelli Holiday of Ten Sleep with a time of 1:00.39.
The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Kassidy Morales, Bailey Martin, Trinity Ayers and Macy Mote placed eighth with a time of 1:03.74. Farson-Eden claimed first with a time of 54.35.
Others on the girls’ team (and their events) who competed for the Vikes but did not place included:
Elana Heer: Long Jump (13-07)
Whitney Martin: Long Jump (11-06.25)
Sierra Ballou: Long Jump (11-03); Triple Jump (30-00.25)
The girls finished ninth in team points with 24. Cokeville won the 1-A Girls’ competition with 124 points, followed by:
