Little Leaguers get taste of big leagues at Coors Field

DENVER--It really doesn’t matter where you’re from or how big your hometown is. Nearly every Little Leaguer that loves baseball pictures themselves hitting a home run or making the big play on the green grass of a well-manicured field to win the game, just like their heroes in the major leagues do.  And a trip to a major league ballpark is an experience long-remembered by anyone lucky enough to experience it..  But for 17 Guernsey Little Leaguers and four of their coaches, the excitement of Sunday’s trip to see the Colorado Rockies face the Arizona Diamondbacks ramped up well before the first pitch was even thrown.

As part of Youth Day at Coors Field, the group found themselves down on the infield in a short presentation by The Hartford Insurance to promote fire safety.  Donning bright purple firefighter’s helmets,  they took a pledge to always be safe with fire, broadcast to everyone in the stadium.

And to top off the experience, as the kids rected their pledge, their faces could be seen very clearly as the scene played out to the crowd on the huge video screen above the left field seats.

Players attending included Adam Bandalos, Conner Bristow, Mason Collar, Garrett Cowan, Braxton Delay, Tanner Delay, Blake Gardner, James Jenkins, William Knowlton, Zayden Martinez, Joey Noganash, Gavin Noggle, Tanner Offe, Juian Rodriguez, Kaydence Rodriguez, Lucas Rotz, and Henry Zapf.

Coaches included Gordon Noggle and Chris Delay from the Minor League team and Daniel Rodriguez and Les Parker from the Major League team.
