Laramie Peak Museum holds first meeting of 2022

Posted

WHEATLAND - The Laramie Peak Museum held the First meeting of the new year Jan. 15, 2022.

“This is the annual meeting since we voted on changing the date,” said Elvira Call, Laramie Peak Museum board president. “It has been 39 years since the Museums opened the doors. It is run by Volunteers and sustained by Memberships, as well as donations by visitors and community members.”

Museum board bylaws were reviewed and the changes were concerning the elections of officers.  It was determined that the office of Treasurer and one Board Member was needed to be elected this meeting. Call made the motion with a second by Paul Holloway to elect Sharon Utter for Treasurer for the next three years.

Call made a motion to elect Paul Holloway second by Rick Robbins as a Director of the Board. Motions carried.

Sharon Utter then showed that the Casper Antique and Collectables sent to the museum valued at $250.00.

“They have always supported us and other Museums from their three times a year of Antique Sales,” Call said.

“A review of the bylaws that all artifacts become the property of the Museum.”

The artifacts will be identified with donor’s name. It was noted that the artifacts need to be at least 50 years old. “We have been forgetting to abide by this determination of the original Board Members,” Call said. “We will no longer take in artifacts on loan and no one can ask to take home an artifact given by a family member who donated it years ago.”

The museum is in need of more space for the larger artifacts and so are looking to apply for a Grant to expand.  President, Rick Robbins is looking into the possibilities.

“As always, we are needing more funding to pay for utilities and insurance,” Call said. “Any monetary donations would be appreciated.”

Opening of the Museum will be some time in May when warmer weather prevails and hopefully less Covid. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Rick Robbins at 331-3024 or any board member.  Board Members include Elvira Call, Deb Dickinson, Paul Holloway, Sharon Utter, Dave Halsey and Judy Wilson.
