Lady Vikings pick up 47-33 win over Hulett Saturday

GUERNSEY--The Lady Vikings picked up a win this past weekend as they defeated the Hulett Lady Red Devils 47-33.
On Thursday, they made a trip to Crawford, NE but were unsuccessful there, falling 38-24. Stats for those games were not available at press time this week.
Earlier this month, the Lady Vikes played Morrill, NE at Morrill in their first game following the holiday break. Morrill shut down the Lady Vikes’ offense and notcbed a 38-20 win. Whitney Martin had half of her team’s points, and seven rebounds to lead Guernsey-Sunrise. The Vikes’ remaining 10 points came by way of a bucket each by Krista Malcom, Mickayla VanNatter, Blake Rose, Trinity Ayers and Kacey McCoid.
Ayers had six rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot. Malcom finished with three assists and a blocked shot.
As a team, they shot eight of 36 from two-point range and missed five three-pointers. They made four of six free-throw attempts and had 30 rebounds (eight offensive).

They committed 14 fouls and 21 turnovers.
On January 5th, the Vikes played Lingle-Fort Laramie in Lingle and lost by just seven in a 53-46 finish.
Rose led the Vikes with 15 points and had five rebounds, four steals and an assist. Martin added 14 points and took down six rebounds. She also hadan assist and five steals.
Malcom put in seven points and had a pair of rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal. Ayers added five points and six rebounds.
The Vikes hit 14 of 47 from two point range and two of four treys.
They hit 12 of 28 free-throws and took down 25 rebounds (13 offensive). Theu committed 28 fouls and 17 turnovers.
They’ll get another shot at Lingle-Fort Laramie this week as the Lady Doggers come to Guernsey Thursday evening. The junior varsity will play at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity girls and then the varsity boys.
On Saturday, they’ll host Hanna-Elk Mountain. The girls’ junior varsity will play just two quarters beginning at 1 p.m., followed by the varsity boys and then the varsity girls.
The girls played in the annual Freshman/Sophomore Tournament on Monday night in Guernsey. Coverage for those games is on page 11.
