GUERNSEY--The Guernsey-Sunrise Lady Vikings hosted the annual Freshman/Sophomore Basketball Tournament Monday evening. In addition to the Lady Vikes, also attending were teans from Wheatland, Lingle-Fort Laramie and Lusk.
In the first games of the evening, the Vikes took on Lingle-Fort Laramie and had their hands full most of the game. The Doggers were up all the way and claimed a 44-13 win. Freedom Whitebird had four points for the Lady Vikes. Trica Johnson added three, and Macoyia Stoneking, Mickayla VanNatter and Katrina Christensen each had a bucket.

Guernsey’s loss put them against Wheatland for the second game after the Bulldogs lost their first-round game to Lusk, 42-26.
The Lady Vikes did play better in their second game but Wheatland prevailed in that one also, winning 44-22. Stoneking led the Lady Viking scoring with 10, followed by Tricia Johnson with six, VanNatter with three, Misty Morales with two and Christensen with one.
The second game for the winners put Lusk against Lingle-Fort Laramie. The game was tight throughout but Lusk managed to keep the lead and extend it during the fourth quarter, going on to win 46-33.
The Viking boys’ team played in their own Freshman/Sophomore tourney in Lusk Monday night as well. Scores and stats were not available at press time.
