Lady Vikings hope for improvement

Posted

Viking Head Coach Troy Reichert  had 18 girls attend Monday’s afternoon practice. They include seniors Whitney Barnes, and Lakin Reichert;  juniors Trinity Ayers, Krista Malcom, Kacey McCoid, Kassidy Morales, Bailey Martin, and Whitney Martin;  sophomores Loren Hendricks, Tricia Johnson, and Blakely Rose; and freshmen Katrina Christensen, TyLinn Cooper, Alexis Emore, Chloe Heer, Camilla Hollister, Macoyia Stoneking and Sarah VanNatter.

Serving as Reichert’s assistant coach is Mindy Kelley.

The Lady Vikings hope to improve on their 3-17 mark from last season.  They return all of their starters from last season, a  step to what Reichert hopes  to be a more cohesive team this year.  “We’ve played the past few years with very young players--finally this year we have more experience in our starting line-up.”

The Lady Vikings will look to leadership from All-Conference forward 5-8  post Whitney Martin,  5-8 post Bailey Martin, 5-6 guard Lakin Reichert, 5-6 guard Krista Malcom, 5-6 guard Blakely Rose,  and 5-7 forward Kacey McCoid.  Bailey Martin and Reichert both continue to deal with off-season injuries but should be involved early in the season.

The Lady Vikes will open their season at Lingle for the Lingle-Fort Laramie Tournament set for Friday and Saturday, December 15-16.  Game times have not been released
