GUERNSEY – Funeral services for Joan (Rita) Lyman, 79, are being held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Faith Fellowship in Guernsey with Pastor Neil Hughes officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Prairie Rest Cemetery near Guernsey, following the service.
Joan Lyman passed peacefully in the early morning of Friday, December 25, 2020, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper surrounded by her loved ones.
Joan was born on Friday, April 4, 1941 in Wheatland. She is the daughter of Claris and Pearl (Keane) Warner. She was raised and educated in Guernsey. At the age of 16, she started working at Barney’s Cafe, where she met the love of her life, Raymond LeRoy Lyman.
Joan married Raymond on June 28, 1958 in Guernsey. Joan is survived by her six children, Jody Porras of Casper, Joy Logan of Guernsey, Jan (Al) Davis of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Jill Judd of Gillette, Wyoming, Jayde (April) Lyman of Casper, and Ben Lyman of Guernsey.
Through Joan’s years of life in Guernsey, she worked as a cook at various restaurants. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She loved God and her family dearly. She belonged to TOPS and Red Hatters.
She is also survived by one sister, Francis (Merele) Curtis; one brother, Glenn (Cheri) Warner both of Guernsey. Joan has two other sisters that reside in Upton, Wyo.
She has 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild due to arrive in April of 2021, that she couldn’t wait to meet.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lyman on July 21, 1991; granddaughter, Justice; parents; and multiple siblings.
Donations can be made in her name to the AMDF, which supports the research and education on Macular Degeneration.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland are in charge of the arrangements.
