A Celebration of Life for Holly Jo Montgomery, 57, was held Tuesday, June 30 at the Vikings Football Stadium in Guernsey with The Reverend Kellie Thomson officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Prairie Rest Cemetery near Guernsey.
Holly Montgomery passed away Friday, June 19 near Hill City, S.D. doing what she loved, riding her motorcycle.
Holly was born Sunday, Dec. 23, 1962 in Torrington the daughter of Stuart Roy and Jean Ann (Howell) Clingman.
She attended and graduated from Guernsey-Sunrise High School in Guernsey. She was a baptized member of the United Presbyterian Church in Guernsey. She married her high school sweetheart Mike Montgomery on June 4, 1983 at the United Presbyterian Church in Guernsey. They lived in Loveland, Colo. where their two children were born. In 1990 they moved to an acreage outside Ocheyedan, Iowa where they lived and raised their family. Holly worked at Chase Bag/Union Camp and Stylecraft before returning to college where she found her calling as a registered nurse. In 2005, Mike and Holly returned to their hometown of Guernsey. Holly worked at Platte County Memorial Nursing Home/Platte County Legacy Home and most recently as Infection Prevention Nurse at Community Hospital in Torrington and Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.
Holly enjoyed camping, riding her Harley, motorcycle trips with her husband, son, and their friends, and trips to Iowa to see her grandchildren. She took a lot of pride in her work, but her greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Holly will be remembered for her smile and how well she took care of those she loved.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Mike Montgomery of Guernsey; daughter, Sarah (Brad) Loerts of Ocheyedan, Iowa; son, Daniel (Crystal) Montgomery of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Parker, Blake, and Brynna Loerts; sisters, Linda Delgado, Denise (Pete) Delgado, and Aimee Kerns; brothers, Brad (Beth) Clingman, James (Christina) Clingman, and twin brother, Mark (Carolyn) Clingman; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stuart and Jeannie Clingman and her parents-in-law, Jack and Marie Montgomery.
