WHEATLAND - The Platte County Historical Society will host a program featuring the history of Quebec 01, a state historic site, formerly a Peacekeeper Missile Alert Facility, on Tuesday, April 25th. The free program will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Platte County Public Library. Everyone is welcome.

Alexis Pratt, site superintendent of the Wyoming Historic Governors’ Mansion and of the Quebec 01 site, will talk about the military installation that was “hidden in plain sight,” and which controlled one of the most destructive nuclear weapons ever built by the United States.  Her program will talk about the daily lives of missileers, topside personnel, missile technology, the Cold War and the deactivation of the missile system. Alexis obtained her Master’s Degree in Museum Studies in 2016 from the University of Oklahoma and, shortly after graduating, began her career with the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources.
