Guernsey-Sunrise principal served on PTSB for almost a decade

GUERNSEY – Guernsey-Sunrise principal Liesl Sisson was appointed to the Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) in 2014 by the Wy State Superintendent of Instruction.

“The Wy Education Association nominated me through my work on their committees over the years,” Sisson said. “I have been on the PTSB board for eight years now and will be 'terming out' this spring.”

Throughout her time on the board, she has served as a member of the investigative committee to review complaints made on licensees and determine if any course of action should be taken against their license. For the past two years, she has been the board chair.

“The two years prior to that I was the vice chair of the board,” Sisson said. “I work closely with the executive director on projects the agency is working on and any committee updates that involve the agency throughout the state. This has been a great learning experience for me to know the ins and outs of teacher/coach/substitute licensure and bring a rural perspective to the board.”

Sisson is leaving the board as you are only allowed 2 - 4-year terms. She will take no new appointment. “The office decided to highlight board members on their FB page and I was the one they chose to highlight I guess,” Sisson said.
