ENCAMPMENT – The Lady Vikings had a three-hour trip to Encampment Aug. 28 to participate in a triangular volleyball match with Guernsey, Encampment and Dubois.
The Guernsey team came out with great momentum in spite of being on a bus for the lengthy period of time and faced off against Dubois in the opening match that was well-matched. In a nail-biter, the Lady Vikings took the game in two sets 25-22 and 25-22.
Chloe Heer recorded 4 kills and Afton Kelley recorded 3. The serving proved strong ammunition in the match as the team recorded 6 aces. In addition, they had 9 blocks and 8 digs.
In the second game of the triangular, Guernsey did not fare as well and succumbed to a strong Encampment team who had the hometown crowd support. Although Guernsey came out firing in the first game, they lost a heartbreaker 25-19 and with the wind out of their sails, the second game saw Encampment have two strong momentum runs and walked off the court with a 25-9 victory.
For the game, Guernsey had 8 kills, and maintained a 76% serving day. The team had 8 blocks, 7 digs and 4 assists.
The girls are playing in Lingle today and will be at Lusk on Friday.
