Guernsey dancers and cheer squads wash cars for cash

GUERNSEY – It takes a community to take care of the kids and to help them raise the funds they need to continue pursuing their passions.

The Tri-Cities Parks and Recreation along with the Guernsey-Sunrise Viking All-Star Cheerleading Squad led by head cheer coach Heather Walker and Tip Toes Dance teacher Jessica Schreiner, held a car wash extravaganza at Super Foods last Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

“The car wash went awesome,” said Schreiner. “We succeeded our goal and more. They got support from the local police department and fire department.”

In addition to the car wash, they also had a lemonade stand and baked goods table along with a raffle.

“We got donations from local restaurants, manicure, gift cards, gift baskets, $100 Visa Card, 4 Amazon gift cards, Hunting knife, and more,” Schreiner said. They are still selling tickets and the price is $5 a ticket or 5 tickets for $20.”

So far the girls have raised close to $500 for their hard work, ingenuity and baking skills.
