GUERNSEY – Mardi Gras entertainment at Guernsey Services for Seniors on Fat Tuesday, March 16, 2021, featured Mark DeLap, journalist for the Guernsey Gazette, who stopped by and delighted the full house of seniors with his pleasurable voice, soothing piano and timeless music during the lunch time party. Many compliments were given, with plans to ask for his return. He even found the “baby” in his slice of “King Cake.”
The party began at 11 a.m. and lasted until 12:30 p.m. Mistina Goodman-Smith said she’d never known the seniors to stay that long and noted they usually eat and leave, but nobody left until the final note was played by DeLap.
“They are my favorite audience in the world,” DeLap said. “Even if I have a mediocre performance, they all act like it was the best they’d ever heard and encourage me with sweet compliments. They must have liked it because they have asked me to come back once a month.”
