Delgado named to 1-A Southeast All-Conference

Posted

For the second time in as many years, the Vikings’ Alex Delgado has been selected for the Class 1-A Southeast All-Conference basketball team.
Delgado’s selection was based on his leadership of a team that had a formidable challenge this year with only six players on the roster.
When two of the team’s starters were lost in early February due to suspensions, it looked as if the team might not even be able to finish out the season.

But two more students stepped up to fill those shoes and the Vikings were able to meet their scheduled obligations and keep their players eligible for post-season honors.
Delgado led the Vikings with top averages per game in four categories, including 13.5 points, 10.5 rebounds (7.5 defensive, 3.0 offensive), 3.3 steals, and 2.3 assists. He also played with solid control on the defensive end, committing just 2.9 turnovers and 2.0 fouls.
Just a junior this year, Delgado will return for a senior season and an opportunity for the Vikings to turn things around.
Joining Alex on this year’s All-Conference team are Devon Grosstick, Connor McGraw, Shane McGraw and Brendon Reeves, all from Hanna-Elk Mountain; Cordell Forkner, Ty Mueller, Bailey Powell and Caedon Riley, all of Lingle-Fort Laramie, and Tristan Bunce of Rock River. Ty Mueller was named Player of the Year.
