Daniel Leo McGuire, 80, went home to his Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Legacy Home in Wheatland.

Funeral liturgy for Daniel Leo McGuire, 80, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with Father Tom Kadera as the Celebrant.  A Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wheatland, with Deacon Terry Archbold officiating.  Interment will be held at the Wheatland Cemetery.
Dan McGuire passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.
Daniel, a Wheatland native, was born Monday, July 17, 1939 in Wheatland the son of Bernard and Edna (Murphy) McGuire. He married Loretta Mathias on Dec. 1, 1971 and of that union they had five children, Shawn, Shane, Shannon, Stephen, and Sam McGuire.
He was raised on the family ranch.  As a young adult he went into the sheep business with a band of sheep purchased from Jim Hageman.  Dan eventually went into the cattle business.
They lived on a ranch up Palmer Canyon that was referred to as the Barrett place.  When their family was young, they bought the River Ranch on the Laramie River. Here they raised their family and ran their cows.
Dan worked at the Wheatland Co-op for about fifteen years. He enjoyed his loafing shed and visiting with customers.
Dan is survived by his children, Shawn (Shelly) McGuire, Shannon (Clay) Brow, and Stephen (Michele) McGuire; grandchildren, Kelsey, Corby (Lexi) McGuire, Taylor, Danielle, and Rodee Brow, Molly and Teagan McGuire; great grandchildren, Eamon and Hagen McGuire; brothers, Tom McGuire and Bing (Andi) McGuire; and sisters, Kathy McGuire, Margie Grant, and Dodie Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Shane McGuire on June 2, 2019 and Sam McGuire on Oct. 17, 1994; one great granddaughter, Emberlyn McGuire; father, Bernard McGuire on Oct. 31, 1988; mother, Edna McGuire on April 28, 2006; brother, Pat McGuire on May 14, 2009; and two infant siblings.
Due to the coronavirus the family will have to postpone the services until a later date.
A memorial to the Saint Patrick’s Knights of Columbus, 1101 Ninth Street, Wheatland, WY 82201 would be appreciated by the family.
