GUERNSEY—Changes have been made to this year’s Winter’s Eve Festival scheduled for Wednesday, December 5th.  One of the most dramatic changes has been made to the parade route,

This year, the parade will begin at 6 p.m. at the NORTH end of Wyoming Avenue and travel SOUTH, ending at the Guernsey-Sunrise Schools.  That change has been made largely due to the number of activities that have been added and are being held at the school--a more centralized location that also mitigates severe weather conditions should they occur.

Registration forms for the parade are available at Guernsey City Hall, Register Cliff Pharmacy, Oregon Trail Bank and First State Bank.  Registrations are required and must be returned no later than 4 p.m., December 3rd at Guernsey City Hall.

In addition to some of the businesses hosting open house activities throughout the day, the evening’s schedule includes:

4-7:30 p.m.:  Parade of Trees – East Gym

4:30-7:30 p.m.:  Chili Dinner, G-S Multi-Purpose Room

5-7 p.m.:  Cookie Decorating, G-S Family & Consumer Science Kitchen

5:30, 6:30, 7:30 p.m.:  Performances by G-S HS Band/Choir ensembles—G-S East Gym

5:45, 6:45 p.m.:  Movie & Popcorn by First State Bank, G-S Family & Consumer Science Room

6 p.m.:  Parade begins on North Wyoming Ave. traveling south to the G-S Schools.

6-8 p.m.:  Open House and Photos with Santa—Oregon Trail Bank

6:30 p.m.:  Christmas Carol Sing-Along-Guernsey Senior Center

7 p.m.:  Storytime with Sally, G-S Elementary Library (presented by the Guernsey Public Library)

7:30 p.m.:  Gingerbread House Judging-Guernsey Senior Center

The Winter’s Eve Festival is a joint project presented to the community by the Town of Guernsey, Guernsey Economic and Tourism Development, Platte County School District #2, Guernsey-Sunrise Community Education and Tri-City Parks and Recreation District.
