WHEATLAND - The Wheatland FFA chapter competed in the culminating events in Laramie and Cheyenne over the course of last week.

The chapter competed in eight contests this year, which included: Agronomy, Farm and Agribusiness Management, Environmental Natural Resources, Ag Sales, Vet Science, Ag Mechanics, Meats Evaluation, and Livestock Evaluation.

The chapter qualified the Agronomy team for nationals this year, having the state champion team out of the 55 chapters they compete against. This win was the Wheatland FFA’s sixth consecutive year winning the Agronomy contest.

“We had the high individual in the contest, Megan Sagner, the second high individual, Lily Nichols, as well as the fourth and sixth place individuals in the contest,” FFA adviser Brice McIntosh said. “All other teams placed in the top fifteen with multiple individual and team awards to their name.

Team placings are listed as follows: Farm and Agribusiness Management; 2nd, Environmental Natural Resources; 4th, Ag Sales; 6th, Vet Science; 6th, Meats Evaluation; 7th, Ag Mechanics; 7th, Livestock Evaluation; 13th. The chapter also earned a two-star chapter award. Our chapter attended all four sessions of the 95th Wyoming State FFA Convention with advisor, Mr. McIntosh along with the three other chapters in our county: Glendo FFA, Chugwater FFA, and the new Wheatland Middle School charter, Laramie Peak FFA. Our entire chapter worked extremely hard this year to accomplish our goals! We hope to continue this next year and accomplish even more.

Chugwater FFA

The Chugwater FFA Chapter traveled to the Cheyenne Archer Events Center and Laramie to compete in the Wyoming State FFA Convention. The competitions included AG-Mechanics, Livestock Evaluation, Meats Judging, and Prepared Speaking. For many of our members, this was their first State FFA Convention and they were extremely successful.
