Longhorns, Red Devils set Vikings’ ship aground

Posted: Tuesday, Feb 7th, 2017

Viking junior Garret Oneyear gets a bucket against the Hulett Red Devils. Looking on are Viking seniors Sean Malcom (11) and Lukas Osmera (34).

GUERNSEY--It was another tough weekend for the Vikings as they bowed to Rock River 49-30 on Friday and Hulett 60-46 on Saturday.

The Longhorns wasted no time in getting a lead and took a 32-9 lead into halftime. The Vikes gained back a little ground in the second half but not enough and the Longhorns prevailed.

The story was much the same on Saturday as Hulett took home a 60-40 win.

This week, the Vikings will host Sioux County (Harrison, NE) Friday for varsity-only games. The boys will play at 4 p.m. followed by the girls at 5:30 p.m.

Next Tuesday, the Glendo and Chugwater teams will join forces to take on Guernsey-Sunrise in Guernsey. Those games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. (girls), followed by the boys at 7 p.m.

They will have one remaining home game on the 17th when Hanna-Elk Mountain comes to town and wrap up the regular season at Rock River.

The regional tournament will be held in Douglas February 23-25. The state tournament will follow on March 2-4 in Casper.
